interpretation of "superintenseselfdefense"

i'm pretty sure i've never had a dream like that EVER before. as i was typing out the dream i started to get an idea of what some of the dream elements might've represented, i.e. the anonymous blonde woman represented a naked barbie doll that as a child, i used to prance about in the window sills of the same study room in the dream. in the eyes of a child, barbie's prowess had the capacity to entice my lawn-mowing neighbor, who was not only a grown man but a husband and a father. it's interesting, the sociological implications that can be taken from the design of traditional barbie (don't know what she's like nowadays.) the scene with the surprise party came from my debating that same night of the dream whether or not to tell a different friend that i had guessed what her surprise for me was (turns out my guess was wrong). the dream was telling me that ruining surprises by knowing what they are ahead of time is not cool.

about the attack and self-defense scene...according to dreamhawk.com, "defense" and "kill" mean a lot of things, depending on the context, as is with every other dream symbol...but essentially a theme of restraint, repressing feelings, livin
g defensively appears through the different definitions.
 Most of the plentiful interpretations for "attack" did not resonate with me, except for this one possibly relevant note, "It is important to define or be aware of ones response to threat or attack in a dream. Experiments in connection with dreams in which the person runs away from attack, or is very passive, show that if the dreamer visualises changing the situation and faces attackers, their dreams and even waking behaviour changes radically... " So, that seems like a good indication to face whatever one is running away from.

Dreammoods.com: "To dream that you are being attacked by someone signifies questions on your character and the need for you to defend yourself. You are feeling stressed, vulnerable, and helpless. You may also be faced with difficult changes in your waking life."  I think I was feeling defensive about a spat I had with my brother, but other than that, no difficult life changes...my parents are planning to sell the house i grew up in, the one with the study room from the dream...i have a lot of good and meaningful memories associated with that house...maybe that's something?

superintenseselfdefense

Four nights ago, I had this dream. I don't vividly remember the first parts of it anymore, but I do remember that they were relatively normal dream happenings. The later dream scenes, on the other hand, were very much otherwise. And they are as follows. . .
My friend N. threw me a surprise birthday party. However, I wasn't surprised when I walked into the house/room that he and my friends were in. The reason I wasn't surprised was because I had suspected something from the unusual silence that I sensed from outside the house, as I prepared to enter. Because my "surprise" reaction was not completely sincere or outstanding, N. felt seriously disappointed. I walked past N. and past J. who was standing against the wall across from N. Even though in waking life, I've never formally met J. and only know of him through a local Iraq Moratorium group and through Facebook, his name-identity immediately popped into my head as I passed. He was the only one leaning against the wall opposite the entry door. He looked real casual and was not talking to anyone. I looked around at everyone as I walked down this hallway-like/narrow, rectangular room. They were all standing on one side of this room (except for J.). There was a refreshments table on the same side. When I reached the end of the hallway-like room farthest from the entry, I stopped near two former classmates from my elementary and middle schools who I hadn't seen since then. They were asking me what had happened to me (because we had lost touch). I paused in my own thoughts and suddenly felt this overwhelming, painful, remorseful regret for having disappointed N. and having taken for granted the people at the party. The feeling was so remorseful, because I was thinking that what had been done was done. Even though I felt so badly, there was nothing I could do to change the past. So, I proceeded towards my destination...the next room. The entryway to the next room was on the same side of the room as J.

After walking a few steps into the next room, I saw this anonymous woman (blonde-haired) standing in the middle of what looked like the "study room" of my family's old home. The "study room" is a big room with windows that face the front of the house/the street from the second-story. This anonymous woman was being sexually harassed via phone by a neighbor (a young adult man) who lived directly across the street. After walking into the room, I observed that the harassment was being directed at her specifically and not me also. I felt relieved but also very defensive or protective for the anonymous woman. I took the phone out of her helpless hands and told the harasser off, then hung up. With no explanation, another girl appeared in the room and was standing together with the harassed woman, as her friend. Through the windows, we could see the harasser still harassing us off-phone.  I sensed that he would not stop and that matters might escalate if he decided to sexually assault us. So, I mentally prepared to get out of the situation at the first sign of escalation.

The harasser's anger and hatred continued and increased, and soon he flew out of the second-story room of his house across the street, crashing through the windows into the second-story room of my house. (At this point the house is illogical...the party room is on the first floor, the next room is a room looking out from a second-story view. and the surprise party is irrelevant.) The man was obviously coming to assault us, so, I started to run out of the room. But first, I beckoned the other two women in urgency, telling them to run with me. They were paralyzed by the shock of the man coming at us and didn't budge, forcing me to decide whether or not to try to save myself or attempt to grab the ladies and protect them. Before I could make a decision, it was too late--the harasser was in the room. I knew that I could not fight him off to protect the ladies and that I still had a chance. So, I ran as fast as I could down the stairs to find somewhere to hide or escape to. I knew the two women would be assaulted and that I would be next if he caught up to me. I ran down the stairs around the corner and into my kitchen. I was planning to run as far as I could, but stopped and hid under a desk in the kitchen, an instinctive move that surprised myself. In the heat of the moment, I calculated that trying to get away by running to the house door, unlocking and then opening the door to the outside would take too long and have created a risk if the harasser caught up with me. So, I decided to stay hidden under the desk, in hopes that he would not be able to find me. He came down the stairs, turned the corner to the kitchen and paused in front of the desk. I was huddled up really tight and was hoping hard he wouldn't see me. I could see his legs squatting down slowly with his hand reaching blindly towards me, so I immediately smacked him hard with something the shape of a book or a baking pan. This gave me some time to get away from under the desk and out of his reach. However, he came after me and got a hold of me near the kitchen counter. Since I was in my own kitchen, I knew I could rely on the defense of kitchen knives. So, I successfully grabbed one and stabbed him until I ended up killing him. I remember feeling horrible and guilty that I had killed someone, wishing I hadn't had to, even though it was for self-defense.

Then, I woke up...like, "WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?"

the apocalypse.

so this morning i had a super intense dream and i vaguely remember that i kept waking up and consciously thinking that i needed to remember this or that because it was so interesting/crazy and i had to tell so-and-so, but then i would fall back asleep and continue my dream.

it started out with my friends tony and josh and possibly some other people i don't really remember very well. we were all hanging out in ventura, and just having fun laughing; the rest of the details are all quite blurry, but i remember thinking it was funny that i was dreaming about all of them because we used to all live together but now we live in separate cities, so how funny it was that we were all together again. and that i really need to call tony because i miss him. anywho, at some point there was this woman who drove a white SUV with two young boys. somehow all of a sudden, we knew the end of the world was coming really soon, like that night, and we all kind of went our separate ways. i ended up going with the lady in her SUV, me in the back seat and her two kids in the front with her. i couldn't stop thinking about how i knew her, because she looked so familiar but i couldn't place her face. she decided her game plan was going to be to drive to lake tahoe because we would be safe there for some reason i wasn't aware of in the dream. i wasn't happy about this because i didn't want to be in lake tahoe, i wanted to be with my friends and family, but i decided that it was better that i was in a car than all by myself on the side of the road, so i just kept my mouth shut. we started driving through santa monica, by the beach, (through this landscape i've dreamt about before which is like a boardwalk but running parallel to the beach rather than branching out from it, and it is always full of people (tourists) who are drinking/shopping/oblivious) and there are signs all over advertising the city itself that look a lot like circus advertisements. the signs all light up and are for various animals. i looked at one which said 'ELEPHANTS' and had a line of elephants that would light up in succession and i started to cry because i knew all this would be gone in a matter of hours... not only my beloved california, but the beach, the city, the people, and all my memories. we kept driving up the beach and then the dream kind of faded out...
next thing i knew, i was sitting at a white plastic picnic table with dan and some other people, in front of a garbage can that had a fire burning in it, reminiscing about the world and resigned to the fact that it was going to end in a matter of hours. somehow dan & i knew what was going on, how the apocalypse was going to happen, and that it was going to throw all of this random DNA together, kind of like throwing paint at a wall or something. dan & i were discussing what kind of random animals would be created after the apocalypse and what new creatures would exist. i started picturing a blob of glowing green matter that looked sort of like slime and i knew that would be the beginnings of new life after the apocalypse, that there was hope, not for us, but for the universe. but it was a cold kind of hope because it was so far off... more like an objective scientific observation rather than something that i was emotionally invested in.
that's about all i remember. but the dream was very intense, emotionally and physically. i think dreaming about the apocalypse is supposed to symbolize new beginnings which makes sense in the time of year but also on a personal level.

from dreamhawk.com:
END OF WORLD: Such dreams can reflect anxiety about the future, such as many people experienced in connection with atomic war during the cold war. Even though such a war never came, the anxiety dogged many people's lives for years. They also show the person inwardly recognizing that enormous changes are occurring within them that will eventually produce shifts in the way they live and feel about themselves.
and from dreammoods.com:
To dream of the apocalypse, signifies an emotional and dramatic change taken place within. The dream may also indicate the end of one kind of lifestyle and the beginning of another.

Hurts Like Taco!

Transcript of my recorded audio dream account, from the morning of January 5th, 2008. It doesn't entirely make sense, because I was half-asleep when I recited it.

==================
I was having a dream, where, it was supposed to be my friend Colton's YouTube video that he made, and it's kinda interactive, where you're in it, whoever's watching it.

...ummmmm, taco um.

When we went to these...I have to say it so I don't forget it: "That hurt's like taco."

-sigh in preparation-

We were going door to door, and they had...pretending to go door to door, and there's these three that were obviously a set. And the first door was Bruce McColloch, in a fake woman's outfit...with a big white wig. And there was supposed to be another person onto that door, not me. And the second door--I don't remember who it was--an Asian lady, and pretended to drop a brick on the host's...dick. And the she pretended to drop one on mine, and then I pretended it really hurt, but I also pretended that it was really long, so then I like fell to my knees when it hurt, and I pretended to pick it up, and then she's like, "Oh, I'm sorry," and I was like, "No, it's OK; I was ACTING."

-pause-

And then the third person was Sandra Bernhardt or something. And that's all I remember, but at some point, we were walking down the stairs and we were laughing about the brick thing. And then I got to the base of the stairs and I was like, "Yeah it hurt; hurts like dick or something." And then somebody upstairs, one of the women yells down the stairs, "hurts like taco!"

It was really funny.

==================

I'm tempted to post the audio file as well, because the delivery is fairly amusing...We'll see.
