bike rides

a couple mornings ago, I had a dream I was riding my bike to work-- Trader Joe's, of course, in Camarillo. I was riding through a town that was a mix of westlake village and oxnard (although geographically impossible), and was riding down a frontage road next to the freeway. there was another bike rider on my right, who slowed down and got further over to the side to let me pass, but I like shot past him super quickly, proud and confident of my ability to handle my bike-riding skillz, thinking "you don't need to watch out for me, I can handle myself, yo!" I passed a street called Lolylove Lane, like the Jenna Fischer movie, and I just suddenly knew that's where she'd gotten the title. I thought to myself, "Jenna's been to Oxnard! awesome!" and kept riding. finally, I get there, but I can't find the store. I *know* where it is (off of the Carmen Dr. exit), but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get there. I can't figure out which way to go- left, or right, or if I'm on the wrong side of the freeway. in this confusion, I wake up.

it's funny that I remembered this dream because I haven't been remembering ANYthing at all for weeks and weeks, which is totally unusual for me. I think the bike riding symbolizes like my path through life, my drive as it were, and the fact that I know where I'm going is good (maybe? maybe not, cos it's a job I *used* to have-- I don't wanna go backwards), but I never get there and can't quite figure out the last step. it wasn't so much frustrating as it was confusing though. I think the conflation of oxnard and westlake is really funny cos they're so far apart culturally and geographically. it's like I lived two different lives, one in each place. I think in this dream I'm trying to deal with my past and figure out where I'm going. also, the Jenna Fischer thing is hilarious! I think I was watching the Office or something before I went to bed, but also, I know that after reading The Artist's Way, she was motivated to make Lollilove, which led to being on the Office. and The Artist's Way is one of my most favorite books, and since graduating and being in this rut of not knowing what to do with my life, I've really begun to think I want to do something creative. so maybe it was my subconscious (or the universe, depending on what you believe :P ) telling me where to go for inspiration? I dunno :P it was a good feeling type of dream, like I felt focused and motivated until I couldn't find my way at the end. (sorry for the rambles!)

ps. I don't own a bike in real life.
